What a week we have had! We spent the week learning about the climate, landforms, and the Earth’s surface. Tuesday we enjoyed 1/2 of our day in the library doing research on Natural Disasters. Next week every student will have the opportunity to create an electronic informational bulletin board that will inform us on how to prepare for a disaster. Be sure to ask your child about it as we begin to create it. It is something that they will be able to log-in into at home and work on or show you.
Here are a few things to know in the upcoming week (don’t forget to click on classroom news to view the Third Grade Tracks in full):
- Monday, January 18th is the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday! Enjoy your 3-day weekend!
- The last day to earn the chance to vote at the Bluebonnet Election is Friday, January 22nd. Every student, if they read 1 more book can earn the chance to vote and join the rest of the 3rd, 4th, 5th graders at a celebration.
- January 28th- Math Benchmark… PLEASE be sure to have your child use “RUMOR” (strategies) in all the problem solving homework coming home.
- January 29th- Reading Benchmark, continue to read and log minutes (GOAL: 100 minutes each week)
- Thank you to those who have brought in needed supplies! We are still in need of more glues sticks, pencils, and low-odor dry erase markers.
I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend! Please, email if you have any questions or concerns with the Third Grade Tracks and upcoming events.
Cordially,
Mrs. Hidalgo
